Living With Lupus (14B)

In the past couple of weeks I have found out that I am ill. I have lupus, which is an autoimmune disease, and the doctors also have found two large tumors in my thyroid. They are not sure if they are cancerous or not and I need to have multiple testing done during my winter break to find out if they are or not. Not only do I need to get testing done for my thyroid but also for my lupus at the same time. During thanksgiving break I will be planning my surgery date to fix my compartment syndrome in my legs. The surgery will hopefully take place during my winter break as well.
I am thankful to have such great doctors that I know will take very good care of me. I know that I will be back to 100% and that no matter what the doctors are going to do the best they can do. I am also thankful to have such great family. We live two hours away from Southern Connecticut and they drive here every weekend to take me to the doctor. They are very supportive and they’re for me during this rough patch that I am going through. I couldn’t thank them enough for everything they have done for me in my first semester here at college along with all my other years that they were there for me.
My cross fit gym is making t-shirts for me because of my lupus and are trying to have a competition dedicated to me and help raise money for lupus awareness. They wear the t-shirts every competition and they say a prayer for me every day. My older brother is the one who is most supportive of it. He is my best friend and has been supportive of me in everything I do. He is the one who is trying to make the competition for me and to raise money for lupus awareness. This makes me so grateful for all the great people in my life and things that I have access to unlike other people in different countries.
